[ARCHIVED] Say No to Mosquitoes!

4 Mosquito Prevention Tips - Use DEET bug repellent, remove standing water, wear long sleeves.

Rising temperatures combined with high humidity increases mosquito activity and increased mosquito activity leads to an increase in mosquito bites.

While there are only a small number of infected mosquitoes at any given time, you can avoid illness by preventing mosquito bites by taking these four simple steps:

  1. Use insect repellent anytime your outdoors. Check ingredients and look for a repellent with DEET, permethrin, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Make sure to follow all recommendations provided in the product instructions.
  2. Protect your house and repair any holes in screens of windows and doors and remove any standing sources of water.
  3. Wear long-sleeved clothing whenever possible.
  4. Avoid outdoor activities from dusk to dawn during peak mosquito season.
